“Hardball: The Girls of Summer” follows the top female baseball players in the USA, all members of the globally ranked US Women’s National Baseball Team. They play BASEBALL – not softball – and fight for equality, recognition, and acceptance in a sport that continues to exclude women and girls. These trailblazers chase their dream of winning a Gold Medal at the Women’s Baseball World Cup, playing professional ball, and creating opportunities for the girls coming up behind them. This is their quest to prove that women and girls belong on the baseball diamond and have a place in America’s Pastime. This is the world of women’s baseball. Narrated by Jessica Mendoza. Welcome to my all new DVD Thriller, which, as the name suggests, is all about thrills at the wheel. Aston Martin’s gentleman thug, the DBS, takes on its rivals from Italy. The lightweight Lamborghini Superleggera battles it out on the track with Ferrari’s 430 Scuderia and my test of the best takes me to the breathtaking roads of the Swiss Alps, the no limits German autobahn – and, er, Norfolk.
In his first feature film, director Bob Bowdon takes aim at America’s public school system, revealing a self-serving network of wasteful cartels that squander funding and fail to deliver when it comes to academic testing and basic skills. Both parents and teachers want change, but reform is an uphill battle in the face of heel-digging bureaucrats and so-called “dropout factories.” It’s a bona fide crisis that’s burgeoning out of control.
Between The Peaks is an expedition documentary that combines the spirits of adventure and volunteering. In 2013 three friends set out to climb Mt. Aconcagua, in Argentina, then travel north to Alaska’s Denali, and volunteer in every country they passed through on the way. Along with their journey, the guys found themselves stranded on unforgiving beaches, venturing up volcanic cloud forests, exploring the mysteries of the Amazon jungle, crossing borders without documentation, and fighting a whiteout snowstorm above 20,000ft. But they would also encounter unforgettable cultural experiences and discover a new appreciation for a simpler life. This is a film that shows it is possible for anybody to follow their dreams and pursue their passions while making a difference along the way.
